Virgile Barthe is recognized as one of the world’s most exciting young classical guitarists.
Barthe started gaining notice at home in France at age sixteen. He was admitted to the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris at seventeen. In 2024, at age twenty-one, Barthe took first prize at Switzerland’s prestigious Maurizio Biasini International Competition. And a year later, he captured the top honors at two of the most esteemed competitions in classical guitar, the Koblenz International Guitar Competition in Germany and the Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artist Competition. Barthe is acclaimed for the refinement of his musical interpretation and the breadth of his repertoire, which spans from the Baroque period to contemporary works.
